Why I’m Jumping On Snapchat as of RIGHT NOW to Connect with Like-Minded Entrepreneurial Martial Artists and Film-makers!
Imagine only having a handful of followers on your social network. That sucks, right? It can be a bit discouraging (at least for me) when you see that other like-minded souls have hundreds, thousands or even millions of followers.
But here’s the deal: What if your handful followers engaged in conversation with you on a regular basis? What if, through their conversations, they demonstrated that they actually cared about what you were talking about?
That’s exactly the kind of engagement I’m seeing on Snapchat right now.
Imagine: 80 percent to 90 percent of your Facebook friends commenting, liking and sharing your posts.
When it comes to interacting with new and old friends on social media platforms, we all know that engagement is everything. It doesn’t matter that you have 100’s or 1000’s of likes on your Facebook business page if only two or three of them ever like or comment on your posts. (of course, unless you pay for an ad or you boost your posts.)
For me, engagement and interaction is the goal; I want to engage, interact and have a conversation with my people. This is important to me.
That’s why I’m jumping on this Snapchat thingy — NOW!
The social network ground is shifting underneath our feet, and most of us won’t realize it until it’s too late. How many people do you know who are just barely starting to use Facebook? The only reason they are is because they don’t want to be the last one in the water. And of course they are now frantically playing catch up as to how to use the platforms.
As an entrepreneur martial artist and film-maker, I can choose to either embrace the technology and social media, or we can put up guards and resist — at least for a little while. But I cannot stop it!
Oh, btw, for those of you who resisted joining Facebook, how did that work out for you?
What the heck is Snapchat?
Snapchat is a video messaging app where you can take photos, record videos, add text and drawings on top of them and send them to your followers. The photos and videos you send are called “snaps.” Users set a time limit for how long recipients can view their Snaps (from one to 10 seconds)
Because snaps disappear after they’re viewed, you’ll have your followers’ undivided attention. They won’t be scrolling through a news feed at hyper speed because there is no news feed. It’s all about attention — keeping the attention of those we want to see our message.
This is exactly why I’m jumping on Snapchat NOW to share about the work I am doing as a martial arts’ teacher, an actor and film-maker.

We live in an on-demand world — a world in which many of us get upset when another human being calls us. Be honest: Have you been irritated by a phone call at a time that was inconvenient for you?
This is the reason that I prefer texts to phone calls. A text can be read and responded to when it’s convenient for me!
I remember when Netflix put Blockbuster out of business. Blockbuster went out of business because Netflix gave consumers the ability to watch what we want when we want to. Same thing with Uber disrupting the taxicab industry. We want everything on demand.
Snapchat allows my followers to open my snaps when they want to see them. With Snapchat, I can keep someone’s full attention when they are ready to give it. Where else in our society can I do that?
Snapping Starting NOW! Experimenting with Snapchat
-> I just snapped a 10 second video of one of the stars in my short film YES THEY BLEED doing just one of his cool moves. I also added a link with a password ( PW = password ) to see the complete version of Travis’ solo. Check it out and see if I did it right!
